So sit back, relax, grab some popcorn, and get ready for a little story about the seduction of a young mortal man by an ancient, immortal vampire! How better to get ready for Spooky Season?

Two Goats and a Donkey Presents:

The Seduction of Bryce Eagerton

It was a normal Saturday evening for Bryce Eagerton as he left his apartment in New Orleans to head over to the Oz bar on Bourbon Street. As he walked along, he thought, "What a cliche! A gay guy in New Orleans going to the Oz on a Saturday night. But you know what? I don't give a flying fuck, it's what I want to do, and I'm doing it!" That thought brought a little smile to his full lips, transforming his handsome face into something more than mere beauty. His brown curls bounced along his forehead and temples as he picked up the pace just a little, more than ready to go and find someone to make him forget Laurence, the boyfriend of five months who had just dumped him. The smile faltered for a moment as he thought about Laurence, but it was over, and good riddance! It was but a comforting lie, since he had truly cared for Laurence, but it was best not to think about that right now. After all, somewhere out there in the streets of New Orleans was a new love, whether for the night or for eternity, and he needed to focus on that, not on the grim reality that he simply wasn't enough for the blond god known as Laurence. There he goes again, letting his mind drift back.

"You've got to stop that, Bryce!" he admonished himself. "That's not doing me any good whatsoever!"

He was starting to wonder if he'd worn appropriate attire, since he was still hung up on Laurence, but the whole goal for tonight was to find someone, even if only for a few hours, to help him forget Laurence, and the black net shirt he wore, unbuttoned to show off his sculpted body, perfectly matched his tight blue jeans, which outlined his tight ass and muscled legs. He shook his head. No, what he was wearing was perfect, and he should stop second guessing himself.

So lost in thought was Bryce that he never noticed the dark man sneaking along behind him, creeping through the shadows and hiding in dark spaces and doorways. Now, Bryce was a very striking young man. He was used to people looking at him, and used to being talked to, as well as talked about, so it honestly wouldn't have struck him as unusual if he had happened to notice the creeper stalking him. That's the curse of being a devastatingly beautiful young gay man in New Orleans he would joke, appropriating one of his favorite lines that Blanche Devereaux would deliver in the Gay Man's Lexicon of the Golden Girls. His friends would just roll their eyes, although they secretly agreed that he really was a beauty. Each of them had secret dreams and desires that one day he would choose them to be his. Even his straight female friends, who knew him well enough to know he'd never swing in their direction, would harbor that desire, that fantasy, that hope. And while he would joke about his own beauty, he truly didn't understand why the world considered him to be so beautiful. He didn't think he was any better looking that most of his friends, most of the guys he saw on a day to day basis while working at the distillery. Many of them he thought were far better looking that him, and while he may have been right in some cases, it was really the combination of his physical beauty with his inner beauty that drove men - and women - wild with desire, lust, and hope.

Bryce snorted as he thought about the men that did act silly around him. Laurence had never acted like that - and that's probably the exact reason Bryce loved him. "He never tripped over his own feet to try and be with me like those ridiculous other guys do," he thought. And then he let loosed a frustrated sigh and attempted to change his train of thought once more.

A fluttering of darkness behind him caught his peripheral, and he turned around to see...nothing. Nothing seemed to be there, other than maybe a slightly darker patch in the air than the night should allow with all the street lights around. And then he caught the flutter again, floating in the air above him. And then his eyes caught and beheld the dark shape of a man, a man that seemed to be flying about four or five feet in the air!

"That can't be," Bryce started to say, taking note of the cape the man seemed to be wearing. He shook his head in disbelief, denying the sight his eyes were beholding, even as his feet turned to run away! His body started to turn into the direction his feet were trying to take him, his eyes got big and very frightened, and a little yip of "No!" barely escaped his lips as his feet and legs started to run. His black net shirt started to fan out behind him as his speed began to increase. His heart started pounding, his breathing became panicked, and his eyes went huge as his brain finally started to assess and assimilate what was going on!

Bryce ran, his breathing heavy, panic forcing him to run just the opposite direction from the flying man, not really paying attention to anything around him or even exactly where he was going. Sweat ran into his eyes, hindering his sight, and his body tensed up, making running away more of a chore than it should be for a fit twenty-two year old. The pavement was wet, his footing was very unsteady to begin with, and as his shoe slipped on the pavement, his body went down.

He hit the pavement hard, knocking the breath out of himself. At the same time, his head hit the pavement as well, and stars and then blackness overtook him as he struggled to retain consciousness. He failed.

The floating figure descended to the pavement, standing over Bryce's prone and unconscious body, predatory eyes sweeping every inch of the young man's body. Features came into focus for the mysterious man. The eyes were first, the eyes of a night predator that misses little. Then the pale cheekbones, nose, jaw. The red lips parted, revealing long white fangs that were meant to tear flesh and sever arteries that would then gush into his mouth, allowing him to drink long and happily on oxygen-enriched blood. The airborne creeper was a nosferatu, a lord of the night, a vampyr, aka, a vampire. If Bryce had been conscious, he would have groaned over the cliche of a vampire living...if that word could be applied to the undead...in New Orleans. Next thing you'll know, there will be werewolves in London or Bigfoot in the Pacific Northwest.

The vampire continued staring down at Bryce, perhaps even the undead fiend mesmerized by the young man's beauty, as a smile turned up his lips. He almost appeared alive as a gleam entered his eyes. "Excellent," he whispered to no one but himself, as he bent down, picked up Bryce as though he weighed nothing, and turned to carry him away. "This one will do nicely."

Eventually the vampire, still carrying Bryce, entered a darkened graveyard. There he set Bryce down, pulled some rope from beneath his cape, and tied the boy's hands together behind his back. He then positioned Bryce onto his knees and slapped him across the face to waken him, then backed away and vanished into the shadows.

Bryce opened his eyes, groaning a bit as the pain in his head brought to him the seriousness of his situation. He remembered everything, including the fall and blacking out, but of course had no idea how he ended up on his knees in what appeared to be a cemetery. He started to reach a hand up to rub his throbbing head, but quickly realized his hands were bound behind him.

"Shit," he muttered, looking around. He quickly realized that his legs were not bound, but he was weak, probably from the blow he took to his head, and he was unable to get to his feet. So he stayed kneeling for the moment, still trying to figure out where he was and, more importantly, where his chaser had gotten off to. For obviously the guy that was chasing him (flying? Was he really flying?) had been the one to tie him up and carry him off to whereever this was. Tears escaped his eyes while he whispered, "Laurence. Laurence, I need you right now. I need your help. Please...." He was smart enough to know that Laurence would not be saving him, that Laurence didn't know where he was right now and most likely that Laurence didn't care where he was right now, but his youth, the hopelessness of the situation, and his fear worked against him to convince him he needed Laurence right now. "Oh God, what am I going to do?"

That was when the vampire stepped from the shadows and made himself known to Bryce. "Hello," the vampire said, striding over to where Bryce was kneeling. "And what is your name? I'm Jacob, and I brought you here."

"Br-Bryce," Bryce stuttered, his body beginning to shake uncontrollably. "My name is Bryce. And who, or what, are you, Jacob?" Bryce looked up into that face, darkly handsome, and he became enraptured with those eyes, those eyes that seem to see so much more than what is merely there.

Jacob smiled. "I am a creature of the night. Or some would say I am the Lord of the Night. I am what your species calls a vampire." Jacob reached a hand down to stroke Bryce's jawline. "You are a truly beautiful man, Bryce," Jacob said. "Truly exceptional. I think you will make a wonderful companion for me."

Bryce's eyes grew large again. "A companion?" he asked, while unconsciously reacting to Jacob's jaw stroking. "Do I have a choice in the matter?" He swallowed uncomfortably.

"Of course! I would never take an unwilling companion," Jacob said.

He leaned down to give Bryce a gentle, yet sensuous, kiss on the lips. "You will die either way, but you have the choice to overcome death and be with me, or to embrace death and slumber for eternity."

At Jacob's words, a whimper escaped Bryce's throat, and a sad tear slid down his cheekbone. "That's my choice? I'll die either way?" Bryce's fear and sadness suddenly gave way to fury. "You son of a bitch, you're going to kill me regardless? Why don't I have the first choice of living or dying? What kind of monster are you that you'd take that choice from me and give me an impossible choice in its place? You're nothing but a cold hearted monster that deserves no companion!"

A muscle twitched in Jacob's jaw as Bryce's words stung him. He was stunned for a moment, as why should he care what the prey thought of him? But this one...this one he could tell was different. He found himself feeling bad for what he'd done to Bryce, for what he'd done in general since the day he too became a vampire. What is going on here, he wondered. Can this boy have...have gotten into my dead heart? He looked into Bryce's eyes, and felt something he long thought dead move inside of him. Who was conquering who here? He sighed, stroked his finger along Bryce's cheek to wipe away the tear stain, then found himself saying, "No, Bryce, you're right. I won't take the choice of life and death from you. I'll give you the choice. Do you want to go, be free from me, or do you want to stay and be my life companion, always have someone who'll love you and be with you? Death without being reborn as a vampire is no longer an option. You live or you stay with me - completely your choice."

As he said these words, Jacob stepped behind Bryce and removed his bindings. "You are now free, free to leave or free to stay. Completely your choice."

Bryce stayed where he was for the moment, not sure whether to trust this self-proclaimed vampire or not. "W-what do you mean? How do I know you're not just teasing me for your own amusement? How do I know you won't just kill me without a moment's thought or hesitation? Or you may get some perverse enjoyment from making me believe you, then betraying me seconds later?"

Jacob smiled down at Bryce, then reached down to pull him to his feet. "I promise that's not the case. You can leave now if you like. I won't stop you, I won't hurt you. I...I see something in you...in your eyes...that...makes me feel like I did when I was alive. I...I could love you like I've never loved before. Damn, you make me want to be better, you make me want to share my undeath for real. But could you love me?" He looked into Bryce's eyes. "Could you?"

Bryce swallowed. Hard. "Honestly? I don't know, Jacob. I mean, geez, you kidnapped me, tied me up, threatened my life, and scared the literal fuck out of me. Love you? I mean..." he stopped, looking into Jacob's eyes, and gulped. What he saw there...what he could see there...what he was starting to feel was just too much. Tears leaked from his eyes again, and he thought, Oh God, could I really be falling for this man that minutes ago was going to kill me? Could I be falling for this monster, this vampire, this kidnapping blood sucker? And could I really become one of them myself, forever, living in his gaze for eternity?

As Bryce's thoughts raged, Jacob pulled him into an embrace, and Bryce felt his reservations, his objections, his fears and trepidations, all melting away. For the moment, all that existed, all that mattered, was Jacob's arms, Jacob's chest, Jacob's warm breath (breath? Had to be a put-on, Jacob shouldn't even have any breath) against his cheek. He wrapped his arms back around Jacob, holding the vampire close to him.

"What do you think, Bryce?" asked Jacob, staring down into Bryce's face. "Do you think you could love a monster like me? Do you think you can rescue me from myself, and let your love tame my predatory heart?" Jacob let his lips slide against Bryce's cheek, let his tongue flick Bryce's ear.

Bryce shuddered with desire, with a different form of fear now, with, dare he say it even in his thoughts? With love. He felt a warm wave of love wash over him for the vampire. What was Jacob saying? Bryce could rescue him from himself? Bryce could change Jacob from a predator? Change him into what? How could a vampire stop being a predator? A vampire by very definition must survive on blood. Without blood...what would become of him? He decided to voice those concerns.

Jacob frowned for a moment in thought, then smiled. "A vampire doesn't need human blood. I could survive on animal blood with no problem, as could you. Human blood is sweeter, and fear gives it a little spicy flavor that is delightful to the tongue, but not necessary for survival. Yours, should you agree to be with me, would be the last human blood I'd have. Well, the last involuntary human blood. Some humans will willingly give pints of their blood for taste of mine."

Bryce frowned. "A taste of yours? What does your blood taste like that people want to taste it?"

Jacob leaned down and kissed Bryce passionately on the lips before answering. "My blood gives humans a bit of vigor, gives them intense erections, and mind-blowing orgasms. But that's only a small bit. Too much of my blood would drive a human crazy. However, you'll have to drink mine after I drain you of yours. It won't drive you crazy, it'll put you into a long slumber, and then you'll awaken as one of my kind. So what do you say, Bryce? Are you ready to spend eternity with me?"

Bryce carefully considered his answer. He weighed all his options in his mind, trying to decide if he had a life that he could just throw away like that. And he decided...yes, yes he did. His feelings for Jacob had multiplied, and if it turned out he'd been tricked and he dies for real...well, but would it matter? He'd be dead and wouldn't be aware of the deception. But he really didn't think Jacob was deceiving him. And he didn't think he could just go back to his old life without Jacob now. Jacob had ruined him for the old life. He just wanted to be with Jacob. "I'm ready," he whispered into Jacob's ear.

Jacob kissed Bryce once more on the lips, then said, "Ok, here we go," as he leaned into Bryce's neck and let his long, sharp fangs puncture the skin, sink into his jugular. His lips closed around the wound and Bryce could feel the rhythm of Jacob's mouth sucking the blood from his vein and down Jacob's throat. His heartbeat soon matched the rhythm, and tiny moans of fear, pain, and ecstacy escaped Bryce's lips as his very lifeblood was drained, slowly, away.

Jacob could feel Bryce's life ebb with every mouthful of blood he swallowed, and his vampiric instincts could tell when Bryce's life was very low, when he was very near to losing consciousness. At that point, he stopped sucking Bryce's blood, made one of his fingernails morph into a claw that he then used to slit his own wrist, which he then placed against Bryce's mouth, instructing Bryce to drink deeply from his well. "Drink my blood, Bryce, so that you may be reborn with me and share my life. I'm looking forward to sharing eternity with you, my beloved!"

Bryce was barely still conscious, but he kept sucking Jacob's thick, surprisingly warm and sweet blood, until he felt, more than heard, Jacob tell him to stop. He was aware of his life passing, of Jacob's arms holding him, of Jacob whispering into his ear that everything would be ok, it would all be over with soon and he would awaken within a few hours new, refreshed, and envigored in a way that he'd never experienced before. He felt himself surrender, and then there was nothing.

Jacob felt Bryce's life pass and gathered him up into his arms. He looked down at Bryce, at the blood dripping down his neck, the holes where he had taken Bryce's life, and he smiled. Somehow, someway, this young man, this beautiful young man, worked his way into Jacob's heart, his dead, lifeless, heart that still beat anyway, that still lived through unlife, undeath, sort of a middle ground between life and death, where it is not truly dead and not truly alive. But it could feel. And his heart felt so much for Bryce, and he had fallen heavily for this boy after such a very short amount of time, after kidnapping him, tying him up, scaring the bejeesus out of him. And what was truly amazing, truly splendiforous, was that Bryce felt the same way for him! Jacob had put Bryce through so much, scared him so much, did so many bad things to him, and yet Bryce loved him through it all, despite it all.

The love he felt for this man, it was just undescribable. It was something he'd never felt in the 186 years that he'd been a vampire. Even in the 28 years he'd lived as a mortal before becoming a vampire, he'd never experienced such love, such compassion, such feelings as he had now. He pondered how that could be? How in over 200 years had he never felt such things. Seriously, have those centuries just been in preparation for this moment? Is Bryce his soulmate? Such a crazy thought, but how else to explain that?

He slowly walked towards a mausoleum, Bryce's body in his arms. He passed through the door into the mausoleum, being gentle with his soon-to-be lover's body. As he entered, he looked over at the darkened candles along the walls, and the candles flickered into life, fire spontaneously appearing from thin air and igniting the wicks. He chuckled slightly, thinking that was just one of the many vampiric traits he'd be teaching Bryce soon.

Thinking of his unlife to be, he smiled again, letting his mind race into the future, how nice it will be to share everything with someone who loved him so much, someone who loved him as much as he loved that someone, how wonderful it'll be to have a soulmate to stretch into eternity, or as near to eternity as a vampire has. After all, there's always someone out there that would love to snuff out the unlife of a vampire, to put an end to eternity, to leave a mark and feel good about themselves for removing a necessary predator from the world. Ah, but in this case, it will be Bryce that removes this predator, for he shall henceforth no longer take innocent human lives. That part of his unlife is over now. And he thinks he shall not miss it, for what he's gaining is so much more than what he's losing.

Reaching one of the concrete slabs in the mausoleum, he gently and lovingly laid Bryce's body down on it, stretching him out and getting him as comfortable as he possibly could get a deceased body.

He stood by Bryce, occasionally running his fingers through Bryce's hair, standing vigil and watching over him, waiting for the magic transformation to finish its job. He thought more about what their future together would be like, and he was getting very excited, so ready to begin that future. So ready to show Bryce what love in the undeath would be like. How intense it would be. How beautiful it would be!

Bryce's body seemed to glow a little, and Jacob reached out to put a red velour throw over the lower part of his body. He waited.

And waited.

And waited some more.

And just when he thought he couldn't wait anymore....

Bryce opened his eyes. And opened his mouth to smile, showing off his new fangs.

Jacob smiled down at Bryce, relieved even though he knew Bryce would have returned to him. Yet, even knowing it intellectually, having it happen brought such relief. And with that smile, Jacob knew he'd never be alone again. He would always have a companion, a lover, nay, a love, that would withstand the tests and travesties of time. Forever he and Bryce would be together, and forever was beginning not to seem long enough. And that's when he knew, he knew for a fact, that he was in love. Not just in lust, not just happy he'd have a companion. He was in love with this former man. He would walk into sunlight for this man. Bryce was now his only reason for being, and he was happy with that. He'd lived for himself, by himself, for so long. And now, it wasn't just "him". It was "they". "Them". A united couple, a united front, united forever.

He took Bryce's hand to help him up off the slab. Bryce smiled, showing off those new fangs again, and said, "Thank God, I didn't know if I'd actually see you again. I can't believe I've fallen so in love with you, or how strong my love for you seems to be! Is that because I'm a vampire now? Are my feelings so much strong as the undead? How long will I live? Will we really have eternity together?" Bryce stopped, realizing that he was babbling, but then started again with, "I can't believe you want me. You're so beautiful! You have a glow about you that I didn't notice before. Is that from being a vampire too?"

Jacob smiled and laughed. "Yes, love, it's from being a vampire. I have so many wonderful things to show you! Things you can do that you don't even know yet that you can do! You're going to love your new unlife! And yes, my love, we're really going to be together for eternity." He stopped, having almost added "As long as no one stakes us!" but decided he wouldn't ruin the mood just yet. That would be a hazard to discuss at another time. But he also thought, Well, since we won't be killing humans, maybe we don't have to worry about them killing us.

Bryce didn't notice the hesitation, he was too ecstatic with everything. This was so amazing, and so much more than he'd ever expected!

Jacob pulled Bryce into his arms, the smile brightening his face. "You look happy. I'm pleased," he said, reaching out to stroke Bryce's cheek with his finger. "I'm looking forward to pleasing you as well.

Bryce traced Jacob's jaw with his own finger. "I'm already noticing things that I didn't when I was alive," he said. "I can see things I'd never seen before, and I can feel this power growing in me. Is that what you feel all the time?"

Jacob nodded. "Plus, you remember I was floating? You can do that too. Light candles with just your mind, all kinds of things. I'm so looking forward to showing you these things."

They leaned towards each other to share a kiss that turned from innocent into passionate in the blink of an eye. Bryce pulled back, gasping, his face showing confusion, yes, but most importantly, ecstacy. "My God, that was intense. I can't believe that I love you so much so soon!"

Jacob laughed, saying, "Yes, we feel things so much more intensely than the living, and our feelings come upon so much faster, too! So, kiss me again." He leaned toward Bryce, and their lips met once more, sending shivers down each others spines.

Jacob took Bryce's hand, and turned to leave with him. "Come, love, let us go start our new unlife together!" Bryce squeezed Jacob's hand back, then walked away with him.

"I never knew such happiness could exist."
