Introduction - Episode 0

Hello and welcome to the Two Goats and a Donkey podcast! This is the introduction episode and I'm just getting everything settled in here. What is Two Goats and a Donkey? Glad you asked! I started a blog called Two Goats and a Donkey in early March of 2021, which unfortunately I didn't stick with. I posted every day for nearly 2 months through late April, then, I skipped multiple entries and did only 2 entries in May, 1 in June, and 1 in July. Then I stopped completely for 6 months until I posted again just a few days ago on January 21. Why all the incompletes there? Well, health was one major factor. Working at the job I had when I started the blog caused me major problems with the IBS from which I suffer, so that accounts for part of it in that I just didn't feel good enough to do the blog. Then in July, I not only started working elsewhere, but I also started raising quail, and both of those took time away from writing in the blog. But now I'm at a point where I'm ready to start blogging again and also to start up this absolutely amazing podcast! Hahaha!

I've been wanting to do a podcast for a while now, but was unsure what I should do one on. I mean, I have several interests. I collect coins, I have a flock of egg-laying chickens, I started raising quail but ultimately gave that up even though quail still fascinate me, I have a cat and a dog, I have a pair of parakeets that are most definitely not tamed and are extremely frustrating, I have an interest in the paranormal, in sci-fi, in human rights, in so many different things that I literally could not decide what in the world to do a podcast on. And then it dawned on me. My Two Goats and a Donkey blog is a hodgepodge of ME, of various things that interest me, of various things that DEFINE me, so why not build a podcast around the blog? I'm a very eclectic person and can talk about (well, my hubby would say ramble on about) any number of things, so why should I limit my podcast to one or two subjects when I can literally talk about anything and everything? Now, is that something in which people will have an interest, wanting to hear me ramble on about jabberwocky? I guess we'll find out!

Let's start with some introductions! Oh, this is definitely a quality show when I can come up with something groundbreaking as in telling you who the fuck I am! Oh, and yes, this will not be a g-rated podcast. But I digress. My name is George, I live on the outskirts of a small city in Mississippi. I'm in a 15 year relationship with the man I love, whom I refer to as my husband or hubby, although we're not legally married. That's a story for another time, kids. The hubby, Steve, lives in another town about an hour away and owns/runs a restaurant. Living with me are my beautiful and chubby Jack Russell terrier mix dog, Max, my equally-beautiful calico and white cat, Maggie, and two parakeets who are in the same room where I record, so you're bound to hear them from time to time, or possibly constantly. The parakeets are Whiskey and Rye, and they are not tame. You'd think after living with me for almost 3 years they would be, but no, they're not. And as stated previously, I have a flock of chickens out back. Well, a flock and one extra. I have 5 Golden Comet hens in a coop that I purchased as hatchlings and raised, and then the extra is a Silver-Laced Wyandotte hen whom evidently someone tossed out near where I used to work or she fell off a truck and wandered over there. In any case, my former co-workers asked me to come and get her, although we all thought she was a rooster at first haha. I have to house her separately from the rest of the flock, as she's terrified of them and they bully her because of it, hence why I say a flock and one extra. She started laying eggs about a month or so after I rescued her.

I have a background in IT, where I worked for almost 20 years at a major university in this town, although I've not actually worked in IT for a dozen years now. Since leaving IT, I've worked as a roleplayer for an army/national guard base to our south, I ran a thrift store and cashiered at an antiques store, was in registration at the major hospital here in town, then did phone appointments for medical clinics throughout the state at the other hospital in town, and now I work at an upscale liquor store. And that's pretty much my work in a nutshell.

So, I guess that'll be it for this introductory episode of this podcast. Again, it's called Two Goats and a Donkey, and I hope that some of you are fascinated enough with my brilliance, my intelligence, my charm, my wit, and all the things, enough actually to listen to me. I'm not sure yet how often I'm going to be doing this, whether it's once a week, every two weeks, or what, but we'll work that out as we go along. So for now I'm going to conclude this introductory episode and I certainly hope you enjoyed it! Stay safe out there!
